WANT TO MODEL A HELICOPTER. NEED HELP FINDING BLUEPRINTS!!

Hello to all SM members!

I am Gautam from India.

Actually i am planning to model a full fledged carrier cum fighter helicopter for my new project in which some commandos will come down from the heli (through ropes) and will take their positions on the ground.

SO i need an exact reference image/blue print, so that i can start off with my modelling.

Also, if anyone can suggest as to which heli would be suitable for this purpose?? i mean if the heli is going to carry commandos, it surely wont be having doors on either sides, so i cant have something like apache or comanche.

waiting for ur helpfull replies,

Gautam.

There is an apache tutorial, but if you don't want to/can't pay for points or model off a tutorial, then I suggest modeling a Sikorsky UH-60L BlackHawk, the US' leading combat helicopter (assuming these are american troops you're animating). It has loads of variations, including the infamous PaveHawk. Being a bit of a BlackHawk fan myself, I tried to model one once, but I really sucked at it (did I mention I'm a nooooooob?) anyway, here are a few things that, to an ace modeler, MIGHT be helpful.... user added image

If you want to try a blackhawk, try googling 'UH-60" Blackhawk" "pave hawk"
"sikorsky blackhawk" "sikorsky UH-60" etc. Also, try this site...

Thanks a lot for the valuable reply buddy! THose ref. are extremely informative. :attn:

I went through the site, and after reviewing all the heli-references, i shortlisted 2 of them which suits the situation of my project, CH-46 SEA KNIGHT , UH-60A BLACK HAWK

The seaknight is best suited coz it can carry quite lots of troops becoz of its size. And the UH-60A (as also rrecommended by you) is good becoz of its futuristic design and ability to carry troops.

Anyway, u have any more good sites with very detailed precise references of military vehicles, soldiers, and guns???

Do reply back soon.

Thanks,

Peace,
Gautam. (India)

Another good way to do it is go out and buy a plastic model and build it then Photograph it. You will get a pretty good reference and the best part is you can physically look at the model.

Cheers

the Ch 46 woudltn be used for Combat drops like you're talking about,if i understand your project correctly, NEither would the Ah 64, its an attack chopper, max troop load is 2, soldiers repelling fomr teh chopper, That woudl be a Black hawk, if you're going for American troops, and as well Most likely for the Britan troops as well..

IF you were trying for the russian look, or somethign similar, i'd shoot for a Mil-24 Hind, they had a decent troop load capacity.. 6 or so i think, plus its decked out with guns and what not.

you can try looking at www.the-blueprints.com if i remember the address right, if that snot it, just google the blueprints and it'll show up, theres nice ref for Heli's Planes, JEts, Tanks, and other vehicles, both milirtary and non..

Best bet for modelign the soldiers would be to just grab random facve references, and model them, with a basic body, ..weapons can be found all over th eplace, just dependign on what you want..

wow, that blueprints site is excellent! I have really wanted to model some things I could never find ortho blueprints of, but now I can!

Anyway, u have any more good sites with very detailed precise references of military vehicles, soldiers, and guns???

well, it depends on what you want them for. If you are modeling something modern ( by your approval of the blackhawk, I would assume you are) with mostly ground combat with helicopters to bring troops in, then you should probably include some tanks (depending on the scale of your conflict). I am not a tank and armored vehicles expert, but I think the M1-A1/A2 Abrams are both good and common army tanks, you can try "googling" that or look for pics on the blueprints website. In the way of soldiers, I would start with getting a good model of a human with a working bone structure. The search for something like "special forces equipment" on google or froogle. As for weapons, most of your soldiers will carry a M4 carbine, as it is an automatic, highly customizable assault rifle. You can equip it with a bipod or grenade launcher on the lower rail, a silencer, various kind of sights on the top rail- most anything a soldier will need for various types of combat. A sniper will use the m24 socom sniper rifle or the m82 sniper, as well as an m9 pistol. Keep in mind that the sniper travels with a spotter, who carries a m4 carbine to cover the marksman. The sniper and spotter alternate positions every once in a while (this may be more information that you need, but oh well). Also, just so you know, an army is usually composed of units, in which there are 8-12 soldiers. This will consist of 1 weapons seargant; combat medics; a suad leader; the fire team leader; some grenadiers (these will carry m4's with a grenade launcher attached); riflemen(they have semi-autos like the m16); auto riflemen (they use an automatic, high powered machinegun like the m249 saw (squad automatic weapon)); and a sniper (advanced marksman). I hope I have neither fallen short of your needs nor melted your brain with sensory overload. Good luck with your project, and please show it to us when it's done!
