Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Polygon normals Problem

hey

i was modeling a character i am working on

i finished the head and the ear

they are both done using polygons

i converted them to subd's to see how they look
it worked

so then i combined both meshes and tried to convert them to subds again it didint work

i checked really well and i dont have any duplicate faces and all vertices are attached

so i checked the normals and the ear normals are all wrong the are pointing to the inside of the ear instead of the outside

how can i flip the normals

Select the ear and go to Normals at the top and click on reverse.

most likelz when it worked seperatly zou have to increase the maximum base mesh faces in the convert->polzgon to subd options

look if there is a error message in the lower right. there will be a number in bracket s you should put in there. orjust crank it up to 15000 or sth like that...
