where is extrude edge?

Hi Everyone,

I understand Modeling menu has split into Polygons and Surfaces menu but where is exactly extrude edge and subdivision cylinder option? It is frustrating to follow a video tutorial and already spending time then only to find out it's not there.

If anyone can tell me what Maya version was used to create Female Android Modeling I am greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Can you not pick an edge and then use the extrude tool?

That is another sites tutorial. They have published several "female android" modeling tutorials. Have you tried posting in their forum? I would think you'd get a better response from someone over there for the particular tutorial you are following.

As for subd's in general, Autodesk removed the subd tool set from the user interface a couple versions back. They still exist but are buried within the API and command line now. Maya's subd's (and this is my personal opinion) were never very good and it is my belief that they were hastily cobbled on so marketing pukes could claim Maya had a subd modeling tool set. Any tutorial that uses them would therefore be kind of out dated.
