Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

How do I render shadows but not surface?

I want to render the object and the object's shadow, but not the surface the shadow is cast on. I tried turning off "Primary Visibility" of the object receiving the shadows but that hid the shadows, too.

What am I missing?

apply a "Use Background" material.
