1.- inside the panel that is currently showing the camera on which you want to put the picture (i.e. Side) click "View>Camera Attribute Editor..."

2.- scroll down in the attribute editor until you find the "Enviroment" sub menu, adn expand it

3.- where it says "Image Plane" click on "Create"

4.- now where it says "Image Name" click on the little folder icon and find the picture that you want to put in the plane

5.- if you need to move its size or position play with the options under the sub-menu "Placement extras" until you get it where you want it.

6.- repeat for each camera.

hey

That's part of the problem. i can't find the view menu. It doesn't exist on my version 5.0 learning edition, or i can't find it one of the two. I got a book, but that's how it said to do it.

edit: I found the menu, and got to the load part, but my computer crashes out.user added image This is probably because the picture is too big the way it is, and my computer can't handle it 256 mb of ram. Can't wait till my computer is built. I'm gonna try and convert the picture to a smaller file type see if that helps. thx for ur help.

edit: Hey i tried changing the file type to jpeg it was only 22kb, but it didn't work. Crashed out again. I have gotten it to work with a picture of a dog, but that was a .tif anyone know anything about that file type?

Unfortunately (well, for me ti's actually very fortunate :p ) I've never had a similar problem, so I don't know what could be causing it.
Why don't you post the picture file here and maybe I can try to recreate the problem in my computer.

hey

Well the image actually came off a website where i'm was going to try and do a tutorial(i'm a beginner). here is the website.

https://www.highend3d.com/maya/tutori...rs/starwars.3d

Its the sketch of the walker. I just right clicked and saved the picture. When it didn't work with the saved picture i opened it in paint and converted it to different file types to see if that would work. these are the times when i wish i had photoshopuser added image

edit: oh and do u know anything about the create polygon tool, i was reading the tutorial and that's one thing i can't find. THX

You might want to hit F1 while maya is open and actually read the help files.

I really didn't think u would be able too. I think it is because of my lack or ram. i don't understand though how the dog picture i got in worked, but this one doesn't. Oh well i'll look for different picture to use.
