favourite input tool?

Hello I'm a newbie, I'm from europe, Austria, and I'm probably going to attend a 3d education course, which is all about Maya, and how to operate it!

I'm using, a normal Microsoft Trackball(mouse) at the moment, and I'm thinking about buying myself a new input tool

I would be interested in getting to know, which kind of input tool you are using besides the obvious wacom tablets, which I cannot afford, to buy at least not out of a normal shop(new ones).

Are there any input tools on the market, which are better suited for 3d applications like Maya than the trackball I'm now using, and what are you experiences using a normal mouse instead of a trackball..

I would be very interested, hearing the opinions of as many users as possible, this might be also interesting for others, who are in the same situation, as I am at the moment

Thanks in advance

I will always use a plain 3-button mouse with Maya....I hate those scroll buttons with a vengence, and they seem to be everywhere! Its very difficult to buy a simple 3-button mouse nowadays, and impossible to find an optical one without the stupid scroll wheel!!

I/P Tools

Hi,
I have been using maya a while and use a 3 button mouse (Yep the middle one is a scroll wheel - but I like that because it can zoom in/out) I also have a Wacom but only ever used it once or twice in Maya and then it was only to see what it would work like in the "sculpt" and "paint" sections.

3 button mouse is fine for me.
