"splitting" a bone/joint

Hi,

I've built a rig for a hand, but I realized that one of my joint/bones is too long. I'd like to split it into 2 joints/bones occupying the same space.

Is there a way to do this?

well, I figured it out sort of. You would just use "insert joints" then parent the previous part of the chain to the new joints. That's a bit kludgy but it works fine.
