This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Problem with coustics? (i think)

Hey I everybody ,
I was trying to render a screwdriver handle as shown in this tutorial ::

but I cant seem to make the half-glass handle project its color with light on the plane under it.. what im I doing wrong ?

If you are using maya... read down
first of all, you have to open render globals, then switch renderer to mentalRay, next thing to do in render globals is to enable caustics. then you need to set "emit photons" to at least one light in your scene and make sure that light is bright enough.
of course you have to make corresponding material for the yellow thingy.
then you can fine-tune caustics with min and max sample levels and so.
