I don't find it slower as u said. I rarely use the buttons, Its all down to the hotkeys now. I think if u're one for pushing buttons than maybe max might be slower in that sence. Rendering in max is pretty smooth. Just the default one that loads up with max compared with maya default one. In max it renders a spere in a second and its practically smooth, no alias or anything. Maya it takes a few seconds and I get a lot of aliasing. This is my pc. Thou its hardly anything really to compare both softwars with. lolOriginally posted by Kurt
I use both Maya and max for modeling and i still perefer maya over max pretty much in every way.. Max has a lot more botton pushing then maya and slows things down i find. I do like Max's render a lot more ..
I have to disagree there I don't think there is a limit to what max can do. I think it is possible to completly master maya or max. Maybe not CG in general thou. When it comes down to it is the technics that matters and ur imagination too.Originally posted by MattTheMan
I personally like max. Its polymodeling toolset is amazing, I can make models much faster in it then in Maya.
I think I prefer Max over Maya, but I have to say that Maya is more in-depth. ie. you can get into Max easily and get good at it fast- but once you master it, theres a limitable amount of stuff that it can do.
Maya, however, ehen you master it- which most likely none of us will ever do (alan might, hes got so many film credits :p) as in, make it to the Maya Masters, you can do almost anything.
Thats my take on it

Not too sure about that. The default scaline render might be just as good as mayas software one. And mental ray is inbedded in both.Originally posted by vasvaas
i think maya is slow because maya rendering quality is high than max.
