This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.
I think that there are a couple of ways that you can do it - your best bet is probably just to do a quick search on simplymaya as I know I have seen a few people dealing with this problem.
a really easy way is just to make a displacement map with the pattern, then apply it to the tire...you'll need to adjust the positioning and scale so that it only affects the outside of the tire, but you can get some nice results.
Yeah, Im wondering about displacement maps too...
Does anyone here know some good tutorials or what? I dont really get what your supposed to do when you see
Here's a quick displacement tutorial that shows u how to control it. Use the placement node to position it where the tread is.
Also, do a google search for tire tutorials or something of that nature. You'll find quite a bit (i couldn't find one specifically for displacement maps) and they'll help you out. Also do a search for displacement map to get more in depth with it.
Maya's help system is also a good resource. It has step-by-step tutorials, so check that out.
I apologize for the rushed post, but I didnt have time to look too much for tutorials, but you shouldn't have any problem on google.
