Strange "yellow points" and the insert-key

hi people,

I'm a newbe and i've got a problem with the cartoon dog tutorial:

at the end of the second part i have to duplicate the legs and one ear. i have to select the items wich i want to duplicate and have to press the insert-key to see some strange "yellow points" (i believe they are the centers of the items, but i don't know) and have to change them to one new strange "yellow point". but my problem is, that there don't appear any "yellow points" if i press the insert-key on keyboard. have you any any idea what my problem is?
please help.

make sure once uve seleted the legs or whatever u have the move tool active(keyboardshort cut W)then put the pivot points at (0,0,0)
it probly says in the tut but if not
hold x to snap to grid and middle mose drag to where it is needed

good luck!!

I have the same problem, different reason.

There is no 'insert' key on my keyboard, (Mac). Is there an alternative way to highlight the Pivot point?

Any help would be much appreciateduser added image

Thanks legendofzombi.

Luckily I've found the relevant key on the mac keyboard. It's the diagonal arrow below the F15 key.
