love the characters especially kay with that skin you have on her, pretty fab user added image also the other characters are awesome, you know what your doing, they look realistic and modeled quiet well i have to say... keep up the great work leon,

Ches my advice would be to download as many video tutorials as possible and work from them.

The eye tutorial might be a good one to start with. I began with a car tutorial which I used to create the bikes you will see in the very beginning of this thread.
You will also find the forums to be extremely use full when you get stuck, many have come to my rescue when I have encountered a problem and been extremely help full.
There are a lot of text and imaged based tutorials around but I would advise going with video tutorials since they are much easier to follow when you are starting out. Once you are comfortable with the interface though and have a good idea what you are doing you will probably find text based tutorials a lot easier to understand. Or at least that was how it was for me.

I finally invested in a tablet and hope to get some texturing work done over the next week or so. I have begun sorting out the uv's on Kaneda and thanks to a plug in called roadkill my life has become much easier. If any of you out there have difficulty with laying out uv's check out this link

Done some more work on the definitions but think this is now close enough. Going to work on the clothes over the weekend and hopefully will have a decent render of him clothed soon.

Thanks for the comments Chris. I am not really new to Maya, I have been using it for a year now, and in that year I have lost a lot of sleep and clocked up a lot of hours learning and improving as much as possible. I have also found the help I have received in the forums invaluable and can't thank enough those who have have answered my newbie questions.

Here is a screen grab of the jacket in Mudbox. I have modeled all of the buckles in Maya and will be able to get a render once I work out why my displacement maps are not rendering properly.
