This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Bouncing balls - expression editor

First of all, Hi everyone! I'm new here and I'm, offcourse, a newbie user added image
I'm doing the bouncing ball tutorial and when I try to add the "squashX" expression to the "ballScale" node I get this error "// Error: Attribute already controlled by an expression, keyframe, or other connection: sx //
"
The expression is the following : sx = 1/sy

Why?

I'm working with Maya PLE 7.0 on MAC-OS X Tiger

Tnx everyone user added image

my best quess is that you pressed s when you keyframed .
this command sets keys on every keyable attribute of the selected geometry so select the rotate and scale attribute in the channelbox of the geometry and select break connections.

channel box on the right of your viewport .

Sorry.. one more problem on the same tutorial...
I'm about to shear the ball but when i change the "shear" value I don't have the right effect. When I set the negative shearing value in frame 15 the ball shear to the left but also moves left. I know this happens because the pivot is centered on the ground but the tutorial say to center the pivot on the ground then I guess this is not the point.

The only thing, I think, I do differently is that I manually change the value of shearxy instead of draggin with the MMB(as it's shown on the tutorial).

I'm working on an Ibook g4 so I've no MMB user added image

Tnx for your patience user added image
