vertex sculpting

When I'm sculpting sometimes the vertex goes in the wrong direction. For example its indented the wrong way when I'm doing ears or lips. Is there a way to fix this?

Try deleting the history. Edit>Delete by Type>History.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.

nah I want to change the direction the vertex indents inside the object rather than just erase it.

..............

by deleting history you aren't deleting your vertex... you're just ignoring all the past operations that have happened on your mesh

when you edit your mesh a lot with lots of split polygons and extrudes and such, the history builds up...

do the tutorials that come with maya, you'll know what i mean..

it could be related to the way your normals are facing though.

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX
Maya, XSI, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Motion, Illustrator, Flash, Swift3D

Sounds like a vertex normal issue.

Check under the display menu somewhere.
