Fields of Work?

What type of work / career does knowing 3D open up?

Things are pretty tough in the UK job wise, esp in the North East.

I figure adding some new 3D skills to my portfolio wouldn't hurt.

So which field do you work in and what are the others?

Animation and 3D gaming are two obvious ones, what about product development and packaging?

Medical/Scientific animation is a good one, but it takes a high level of scientific knowledge. The job market seems to be okay (not looked for one personally yet) but I don't know how it is globally.
