Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Issue with textures

Hi all
I have finished modeling a dinosaur T-Rex in Maya, and now I wanted to make it look good with high quality textures and sculpt it for better looking by importing the mesh in Zbrush. but I when I create a texture on the mesh, it looks good only in Zbrush, if I try to export it back to Maya and apply the new texture created in Zbrush, it shows up a bit larger than what it looks in Zbrush, and that makes it look more blurry. I did make sure my UVs are properly unfolded back in Maya, no overlapping. And when exporting the texture from Zbrush I had it set on 4096x4096 res, and my mesh has 3.300 mill polys. What could I be doing wrong?

Here are few screenshots:

I tested it with few more textures, and even used painting colors, but still the same thing happens. user added image

If it looks burry when software rendered then you might have a problem. Your 3D view display settings are likely clamping the resolution down below 4k, which wouldn't be abnormal.

Well it turns out to be the texture not applying properly due to the sculpted mesh, if I try to apply the texture on a clean mesh in Zbrush, then the texture looks as it should in Maya, but it's not the same if applied on a sculpted mesh. So I used a simple Zbrush painting on my sculpted mesh, which was way better, showing much more detail of the sculpt. Thanks for trying to help me though. user added image
