GEEEZAHS!!
Firstly thanks Dae for the heads up on the dragon tutorial. It looks very good.

Secondly - Kurt! You are the legend and I would love you to model the little dino rat - trust me! Yours would be better than mine ha ha! I'm probably gonna make a pretty basic model and then try to fake it using textures. Shhhh dont tell anyone.

Ok I started to model last night but it all turned to custard so I started again tonight and I have something that is half decent. I have to tweak it quite seriously to get all of the proportions right. Damn! I might end up with something that looks ok but I will pretty much sell my soul to get there.

Ok! I wont be logging on for a few days bec I'm gona rest my brain and go snowboarding.

Cheers all

Sorry - just to clairify - There appears to be an outer layer and an inner layer. When you devide or extrude from here on it it seems to add another layer so there is like three or four layers. Any suggestions or help would be great. I dont wanna have to start again. I might use subdivs next time if I have to restart.
Thanks

I'm not very familer with CPS, My guess would be that there is some double edges where the truble starts, giving you that problem of multy shell's inside.

I normaly work in poly only eather with a proxy, or subD proxy. Don't know if you can do this but tern on the heads up display for poly information. Seclect sevral verts or edges around where it starts and if it list more than you think you selected thin you know you need to get rid of them. Maybe you could try to run the poly clean up on it.

Sorry thought probably would be more help if I used CPS.

Thanks for the suggestion Pony (ya legend) I have found out that it was a stupid noobie problem of over zealous extruding - Duh! I have started again using sub divs and will be posting some updated pictures in the next few days. Gotta move now bec I'm running outta time. Oh yeah! Has anyone done/are we allowed to, composit our character onto a photographic image? That would be kinda cool if I could pull it off!

I quickly cut my model in half tonight so that I can get some feedback and suggestions on it so please ignore any seams that are visible.
I have not finished the back toe on the foot and the eye has been moved a little further out.
I am not planing on putting in too much more detail in the modeling if I can help it. I'm going to try and fake the rest with texture mapping. Shhh dont tell anyone tho!
Suggestions?

hey surfer.

looking good mate. are you not concerned with close up shots being compromised for the bump, instead of modeling?

very cute and great job. I say on to texturing with this little one. No C+C from me. Looks good as it is. I think the rest of the detail belongs in the texture files also.

ok I have almost finished the modeling apart from a few small details and stitching the little fella together. I need to look at a few more tutorials about texturing and stitching. I need more detail around the eye. Man this has been a learning process.
Anyway, here is the little guy in the first rough texture that is totally planar and to be honest the bump map is made up of his subdiv wireframe - exported the wireframe image to photoshop and turned it into the bump.
The eye is really detailed and is made up if about 3 textures and shading groups.
Cool!
