This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Hey, btw... when modelling like this, do you start from a plane in the eye socket, then extrude out a few and then delete the center? Just wondering user added image.

I started with a small plane in the bottom of the eye socket then extude edges round the eye, then do the same round 1 half of the mouth - combine the two separate parts then split poly then go fromthere extruding edges, merging verts

i am not the fastest at it yet but it produces good results for me where I really struggle with other methods

I believe you captured the curvature of your lips quite well.
This method seems to work out for a lot of people.

Hi Eagle,

select the edge you wanna extrude, and then go to the menu... -->
edit polygons... --> extrude edge... user added image

here is a bit more - got to add the ears next - oh dear user added image

I think ears are probably the hardest thing to model on the head - for me anyway - least I am not going for a photo-realistic head user added image
