Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Star Maps

Hiya Looking for background star map images to do space scenes. I heard of a program that made these but would like some help if theres an easier way to do this or what the program name is that does it. Don't really care about the "real" star maps just want a background that will work.

Thanks, Supido

You can make them in Maya. It's covered in one of the projects in Learning Maya [X] - Foundations.

Basically what you wanna do is model and texture a few planets and render them on a black background. Then import the rendered image into Maya's PaintFX and use it as a canvas, and then paint some stars and stuff using the PFX brushes in Maya... It's a pretty simple way to do it, and it also looks good user added image
