Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

whats the best way to model
eg poly or nurbs

(by best i mean fast and easiest)
((but still being able to add detail later on))

I would say Polygon, much easyer to work with user added image

Nurbs fit best for easy models whitch is going to be soft, like baloons and hoses

its all personal preference. i prefer polys, but others prefer nurbs, if you are used to nurbs, you can create great models, check out nurbsgirls work, its awesome, and of course polys are used by lots of people, check out https://www.mtmckinley.net, he generally uses polys, and he's awesome too, so its all about personal preference.
