Particle Instance

I know I can cycle a geometry sequence through the "particle instance"

But when I just want random pieces of geometry to be emitted
that do not cycle, what is the best way?

I have tried playing with the cycle options 'age" "lifespan" etc
but I'm not confident in my expression writing skills. I'm not sure
thats even the right way to go.

ANy suggestions and/or tips would be most helpful

Thanks!!!
