Two Questions

1.) How the heck do I split a Nurbs Sphere in two...so I only have one half to model with?

2.) Why is it that when I model using Polygons, some of them seem stretched out and do not accept my textures properly. Some of my model will look fine, but other areas look stretched.

I have attached an image of my very first model...as you can see, the rivets and panels are only in certain areas...they are supposed to be all over the model. Why?

Any help is appreciated.

ok first
how do i split nurbs:select nurb, click on channel box and you will see make nurbs spere.click on it and whereit says end sweep, write 180 instead of 360

second:learn uv mapping.

Also, to split nurbs, select an isoparm and Detach Surface.

I did try selecting the isoparm to split it that way...nothing happened.

As for creating half of a sphere, that is a good idea, but I need to be able to cut portions out of it...

how would I remove on section from the half of a sphere?

figured it out...

I kinda feel like a tool...I was only selecting one isoparm on one side of the sphere.

got it now...

yeah, you'd have to split it on both sides if dealing with the polar isoparms. user added image

It is really easy...which I needed.

I built a good head from it, but still have probs with the UVs...

Everything else is coming together though...hahaha

mtmckinley...thanks for all of your help.

The UV tut on your website rocks. It opened my eyes on all of it.

Still having probs with the head I did, but I think I may have missed a step or two...hahaha
