MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON PROBLEM

I BOUGHT A BELKIN 3 BUTTON MOUSE, I AM ON XP. THIS MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON IS STILL NOT WORKING. IT IS SUPPOSED THAT NO SOFTWARE IS NEEDED ON XP. CAN SOMEBODY HELP?

In the mouse control panel, I think middle mouse button needs to be set to AutoScroll for it to work.
