This may seem like a stupid question, but what is that thing that they snap before filming something and the director says "action." It's also the icon for the render Globals on the Maya shelf. Just curious....
And usually, with digital ntsc and/or camera data digital infrared data transfer and sync, there is a person called a "Clapper Loader" that will ensure that the timing and sync of everything is taken care of in the clapper interface software
