Control Vertex Setting

Um, hi. So I've been doing the Cartoon Dog tutorial but I've hit a snag. Everytime I select control vertex or select Hull, it selects the whole shape so I can't move specific area's. Help me please? user added image

Hit "b" on your keyboard. You accidentally toggled on "soft selection" most likely.
