Subdivision to polygon

hello all
please help
I have made a polygon face in maya, after it was completed somehow, I converted it to SUBD to smoothen some part.
then I wanted to convert it back to polygon, but it is a different shape now. it is of course a polygon face but much much smoother way kind of similar to the SUBD and it's not what it was before. it was not used to be like thins but I don't know what happened. does anyone here know what should I do to fix this and perevent this event.

easy. when you convert from subdivision to polygon open the optionsBox of subD>poly. check "controlPoints" and set tdivisions to "0".

everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.
