Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

Too many SubD Faces!

My SubD movel has too many faces at level zero! Is there a quick way to reduce them, or do I have to meticulously work with the polys in proxy mode?

I would vote for meticulously work with the polys in proxy mode, Even if you converted to poly's and did any of the automatic redution methods you would still end up with a very big mess.
