Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

How do i make a HELIX spline.

Hi there.
I did a keyword search for HELIX and it came up with one answer. MAYA 7 has a HELIX tool.
I have Maya 6.5.

Can someone please point me in the direction of a MEL script / Plugin / therapist to help me make a HELIX spline in MAYA 6.5?

I have made a HELIX spline but it was more of a case of 'connect the dots' of a extruded face with a Y offset and rotation (yeah, so i made a bolt! :bandit: )

thanks in advance

no that wont work, because in Maya 7, the command polyHelix is a pre-scripted primitive. So if you try that in Maya 6.5 or 6, it will just give you a syntax error. And as for the other signs after the polyHelix command, they are not needed; they just tell the dimensions of the helix.

As for a script, why don't you just go to google.com and search for helix script in maya 6.5? Im sure you will find something.

hope that helps.

Grabbin it now.
Thanks a heap for the link.

Don't know how many new commands / functions MAYA 7 will give me over 6.5. I will wait, perhaps until 7.5, and then get 7.
