There are different models, but it shouldn't be difficult to find one that is half spherical.
The handle could serve as support (bending it and adding a base.
They are really reflective, so they are good for HDRI.

Otherwise, another way to do it would be to go buy a metal globe of the world then take it to your local chrome plating specialist.
