Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Finding Nemo inspired image

Hi,

Hope to get back to Talos Project stuff soon but been busy with freelance jobs, but right now I'm just working on a little fun one-off image as a birthday present for my best mate Gemma. Was bouncing around ideas and thought of doing her as a the pixar treatment as a fish, nemo style.

This is her

The hairstyle

So with that as the only realy idea at this point I began doing a sketch of what she could look like.

So last night I did this

And then build it

Plan to make another friend Clare and myself also and put together a scene with us all in.

The first 3 hours or so have been fun so far, and hopefully it will turn out ok in the end.

Cheers

You drew it and modeled it to a "T". The textures look good but I think the face would look better with the texture on the rest of the fish IMO. But the modeling is exactly what you have drawn...previsualization.

that is disturbingly awesome

the eyes look out of place but i think the rest of it looks sweet

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Cool. IMO just squeeze the lids together top and bottom, should then stop the surprised ' get the rod out of my backside' look on the face. Plus looking at the picture of Gemma the eye lids in the second pic are closer to the iris.

Looks like you have been taking cartoon lessons from the pandaman.... dont do it LOL

Thanks. I might think about adding some more texture under the cheeks to soften the transition between the golden (hair) section and the pink face part.

As for the eyes I think I will leave the top but raise the bottom slightly to make her more smiley and then just edit the texture. I want to keep the eyes nice and big but I think the Iris is maybe slightly too light and the pupils should be a bit bigger.
The eyes are just spheres bunged in for the mo and just have a blinn and a colour map.

Can't spend that much time on it but it is quite a lot of fun to do something different from the usual realistic style all the time. Refreshing.

Hi all,

Here is the next fish I did in the last hour.

Still needs some work and I can't quite decide on the expression at the moment.
It will make sense (hopefully) when the scene is put together.

Cheers

I like them both but I would have to say I like this one a little better only because the face color goes with the rest of the texture. Good job man.
