Glowing objects

Hi,
Wondering how to make objects glow on their own. It seems that anything I add a glow value to is directly tied to the light that I place around it. Is there a way to make objects glow of their own accord regardless of any ambiant light or other light placed around it?
Thanks.

Glow is a atribute but does not actualy give off light. U have to play with incadecens etc to get the FX and a light source maybe inside if you want it to cast shadows.

try adjusting the incandescence, if you wanted to make something that glows white for example, put color to white and incandescence to white, and so on, the glow will then only be dependent on the object and not the light
