Making Glass look real

For some reason, I can’t seem to get a good glass render in Maya, using Mental Ray render. I have no problem making some real looking glass ware in my RealSoft program, but I am getting very bad looking glass ware using Maya.

Is there a tutorial on making glass look real using Maya? If not, do you have any suggestions about Maya and MR render setting?

Thanks
Kori

you might get some more help if you could tell us what material and render settings you're using right now. there's not much we can do otherwise.
