This is great fun!

Modleling these nurbs-trees and brances are great fun.
So simple when duplicating and modifying.
A few more brances and they're done.

Winter scenario... no leaves on the brances.

Friendly moderator on the premises ...

Hi, Guys!

I´m quite happy with the way the competition is going.
300 posts and 3126 views and counting! Cool! Keep working on those great entries!

To all new competitors, Thanks for entering the competition!
However do take into account that modelling should be finished by almost all competitors at this time already so better get working on those models. (I created a fairly simple model in 5 hours to ilustrate a bit, I´m sure you´ll have a fairly operation model in the same amount of timeuser added image)

Oh, and another thing:
  • Images posted from now on should have the name of the competitor embedded in the filename.
ie: If I were a competitor, my images should be called adldesigner_crazymosquitoupdate200.jpg
  • Images posted size must be 600x440px. This keeps on the continuity of the thread and the Showcase.
I´ve got things fairly organized and automatized in Photoshop so updating the Showcase hasn´t been a problem at all, but since there´s a growing number of competitors (and with it, a greater number of images posted) I need to take on this measures. Images that don´t have the size above noted (600x440px) will get cropped. I don´t mind compositing but keep it to the size.

Thanks guys!

-all images are updated now- (phew, and they were quite a lot)

Hey, Undseth!

You haven´t missed a thing, it´s just that texturing is a fairly complicated procedure and most competitors are likely to be introducing into texturing yet, so I fixed a somewhat unofficial deadline for modelling some posts way back. Supposedly if you want to work efficiently with your model you should be done with modelling already (since this friday was the deadline).

This should allow you to texture or learn texturing and apply it to the model before the competition´s deadline which at the moment is December 5th 2002.

Hope it helps mate.

Aaaah!

*pheu*

I was afraid this poject of mine was gonna end in desperate cramps. lol

I agree with the important idea of model-deadlines. Sadly I was a notorious violator with this "issues like this" at my school of architecure.

Hopefully I'll shape up my attitude before starting a new semester.

I have one question adldesigner!

I found some props (small trees/bushes) that I want to import into my project, I see no reason why this cannot be done along with a disclaimer, but I guess you disagree to this.

What thy say adldesigner?

Actually mate, this is a fairly big grey area. For example, imagine you actually created the diorama for the model and just imported the bushes and everything (along with the disclaimer you noted already) and suddenly Bullet for example posts an update with his diorama/scene/whatever all created by himself.

Since most of the competition is more onto efforts and all, shouldn´t he win then?

Sincerely speaking undseth, I´d rather prefered if the scene was all created by the competitor himself.
You could always put a background to the picture, or try to composite it into a real pic taken by you, you know?

Hope this helps mate.

LOL babyduck.
I´m sure BulletProof thought the same way about texturing the first time he tried it. However do look at the way he´s managing the technique now. user added image
Come on! Get on it! Besides who says shader networks are no fun?
