This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

love the new site jay and love the models you have up there .

just a dumb question is there going to be a place on your site on maybe how you came to be that good. Like books or tutorials that you favor or how you started ?

Good work Jay - your site is looking cool - I might make the font just a little bit bigger, but other than that, it is looking very good. Lots of interesting ideas and it is nice to see all of the work connected to this project.

Hey Guys

Thanks

Blomkaal: 14! are you kidding? As for the font, Im not using anything but Papyrus, maybe you dont have it on your machine so its being substituted with Times, I can send you it if you want send me a PM

mmoore5553 : Something on how I came to be that good? Firstly thank you, and secondly Ive been doing it a fair while, I first did
Maya about 6years ago, but the job I did then for 4 years I had to work on average 15hrs a day so I got alot of my experience just using it hands on, but artistically Ive alway drawn since I was veeery young. As for books, theres loads I could recommend, Chris Maraffis book on rigging, Jae Jin Chois Animation book, both cover modelling but the second is more directed to it. As for tutes, none really, the only one that springs to mind is Joan of Arc by Michel Roger, I started with that but as for that its just been a case of looking at other peoples work and applying it to my own and develop your own methods and work flow from there.

But I will say this: Training is nothing, 'Will' is everything! That rings true in everything that is achieved by anyone. You have to want something enough to help you conquer it.

Arran: Thanks bud, but which of wording is too small for you,the intro panels on the left of each section?

Cheers
Jay

Yeah, sorry for not being more specific. I think if you made the intro font a size bigger it might be a little easier on the eyes - at the moment, against the black background, it is looking a little small and insignificant.

Arran

I have made it bigger since you posted, sorry I didnt get back to you. How is it now?

plus, if somebody could do me a kindness and tell me if they see the animation there too(misc section next to the head), Ive had JHaydock say he can see it but I just want some more feedback to make sure the format is readable by as many as possible.

Cheers In advance

Jay

Hi Jay - yeah, the font is looking a lot better. I tried testing the animation and it didn't work, though that is probably the crappy computer here at work. Will test again tomorrow morning when I get home.

Hmm! Okay, do you hve quicktime, divx and windows avi and flash at all? Its an avi you see so you may need a codec or something

Anyone else can or cant see it? Its around 8meg so give it a chance

Im going to do it as a flash as it should work for all being on the web

works fine for me - must be a lack of quicktime or a relevant codec user added image

Try techsmith codec from Techsmith.com as I ran it thru camtasia to compress it, it does a good job of it without compression marks etc

As I said I'll probably redo it as a flash file. Probably easier
