Yer, ambient occlusion is cool but it takes forever.

Not got a clue how my pc will cope -- perhaps it won't :O

I modelled a craft from star wars. After sourcing images I bought a model from a model shop an used that for reference. Depending on how detailed you want it and from what distance it will be viewed from, you could do a lot of the detail with textures and bump maps.

This is true, but I plan on having the camera go very close in. Also, im not that good at texturing yet.

Well as promised here is what I have done since last we spoke. Mostly boring detail and just doing some filling on the little gapes (which you can see better on the second pic).
