Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

explotions

im experimenting with explotions but im having some difficulty
the area around the explotion is far too light (the black bits on the image)
how do i get rid of it? i know i can use the falloff thing but that makes the explotion completly circular

I dont really understand your question, you want the black bits darker???

Try adjusting your incandesance ramp colours for you explosion (which I had to have a think about what you meant when I saw the thread title explotions)

Well, the first thing that I noticed was your dropoff shape was set to defaults.

Under the "Shading" rollout, change the following:

-Set Transparency to HSV: 0 - 0 - 0.033
- Set Dropoff Shape to Cube or Sphere
- Set Edge Dropoff to somewhere around 0.802

Mess with those settings to get closer to the look you are going foruser added image

Dealing with Fluids, like most dynamic simulations, is a trial and error process, so sometimes a LOT of tweaking is neccessary.

That gave me the following:
