Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Shadow Problems?

For some reason the shader is completely screwed up where certain portions of my mesh are darker than the others. Tried to add lighting and some changing the render settings but to no avail.

It can't be my computer because I'm able to play Oblivion & Fallout 3 at MAX settings and no lag. This is an older version of Maya too so it puzzles me that I would be having this issue.

The same way, sadly.

Edit: Added a Surface Material which fixed it somewhat. Will report back after adding some textures.

Edit 2: Added some floor textures and it didn't fix the problem, its still dark in certain spots.

Check that you don't have duplicate geo in the same spot.
And check your normals too.

Can it be hard/soft edges? I've had simmilar results once when I accidentaly did an extrude on some hard edged geo and the smoothing value was incorrect on the extrude.

It's hard to see what is going on from the screen grab. Can you upload the .ma file and I can take a look at it?

Try combining your geometry, merging the vertices, then go to Edit Polygons>Normals>Set to Face. (Man I miss the old menus user added image )

That should fix it up.
