Mental Ray Render Engine Disappeared?

I'm currently working with Blinn objects and I've come across a seemingly simple-fix error: Mental Ray is not displayed as a render option. The three options are Maya Software, Maya Hardware, and Maya Hardware 2.0. The only way I can get mental ray to work is by importing an old rig that had the mental ray option, but there's got to be an easier way. Help?
