Problem with Soft Edges

Hey Guys!

I've got a big Problem with Soft Edges.
I have an seperated Object, some parts have Soft Edges, and others have Hard Edges.
When I combine the Objects, the Soft Edges are still soft, but when I combine this Object with another Object, all the Soft Edges get lost.
How i'm able to fix this Problem?

Regards, ZueB

EDIT: Now I've only opened my saved Project from Yesterday, and the Edges of this Object are all harden again -.-

Are you having to combine and uncombine during the final production? If not, why not build the complete model and then go through and soften/harden edges?

I wan't to combine it, because this one Object ist made up of 100 Objects or more, and at the end, I have to duplicate the Object 40 times.
The Problem is, when I go through soften edges at the end, I have to do it 40 times.
And now I saved the Project with soft edges, opened it the next day, and the soft edges got lost.

Here's the screenshot.

As seen on the last picture, the parts in the middle of the Object stay like they should, the others get harden.

Hi,

could you post your scene file please? I will try and take a look at the weekend.

What I probably have done though, would have been to model all parts to the same level of detail (if it's going to be combined as the same object in the end) so only one normal angle was required per-object. Just some additional edge loops or bevels on the sharp parts,

what if you just group/parent everything? that way you still have control of specific pieces but you can also grab the whole mesh as a group

That would be a Solution, but I want to know the source of the problem.

combine and try to merge the vertexes together or just combine it and let it be the way it is

Now I realised that the Problem isn't combining the Object.
The Problem is, if I close the Project and open it again, all soft edges of this object get lost.
It makes no sense if it's one combined object, or many parented objects.
I think, nobody here knows how to fix the Problem user added image

group the meshes you wanna have smoothed, and the meshes you dont want to be smoothed, then select the group and smooth it when you open up your project user added image ?

might have misunderstood what you want to achieve here but if its how i think it is then that would work ^
