This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
Not sure what you're asking. It sounds like you want to cut a polygon without cutting it? Do you need multiple faces cut? If it's all quads, you could triangulate the mesh and then they would all be in half. Or you can use the split poly tool which does a good job. Or you can use the cut faces tool. Or you could use insert edge loop.
Can you post a simple drawing or screenshot of exactly the scenario you need?
The fastest way is the cut faces tool but it can give you more problems later on. It can be your friend and your enemy at the same time depending on how many polygons you have on your mesh, try it out.
