Go to this menu and bake out of that. It will save out the texture in the settings you specify. Most important thing being the occlusion setting and using overrides. The baking tab is the batch bake(Mental Ray).

You use exactly what I showed you. You have to clamp the color values at the bottom and then you can also use the overwrite and multiply settings to control the intensity. I go over it in this video around a guarter in.

You need to change the tab in the top left to polygon. Then you will see that menu on the top. You must be very inexperienced with this program. So go and watch an interface tutorial on Maya and how to navigate the different sections.

I've watched enough tutorials, but my AO always comes out with a dark part, I wanted to learn to make a bake done this:

I use these settings have followed several tutorials, I set always before giving the bake the render settings, but my bake always leaves with a dark side

You dont need a studio around the bake in how I told you. The reason it is black is because the mesh is obstructing the raycast. Delete the studio. Please just follow my instructions. It works in my video if you just follow what I say.

Just follow the first part of the tutorial that CollinBishop posted, Crytek looks like a shader plugin that you do not need, I did learn one thing on the tut about the overwrite options so you can teach a old dog new tricks..............dave
