This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
Long time no post. I have been working with Collin Bishop over the past 6 months with cryengine and we now find ourselves with over 6k modular assets and over 50 characters with full facial rigs all modular and setup to work with faceshift. Was a good moment getting a talking character into the engine and looking as good as cryengine can make stuff look provided its setup right. Things are now coming together though and figured what better place to share some current in game renders than the place where I started learning 3d. Bare in mind only so much can be done and photo realism is still not really fully achievable. That said we are using and optimizing to the best of our ability while trying to get the best quality possible though. Textures are a max rez of 1k diffuse with a 512 ddn and 128 spec. We may well release a larger rez texture pack though with 2k diff and 1k ddn maps though and have these should they be required. All plants are fully touchbending and interact with the players etc while every building can be entered and is fully furnished.
Cheers for the kind words guys, much appreciated. Taken years to learn enough to be able to give this a realistic shot and am not sure how it will pan out, I have always loved a challenge though
Thanks for the kind words Gen it is a factually based game set in 1830s onwards. Locations currently include Asia, UK, Persia, and south America. You will take on the role of a smuggler and live through events that took place and shaped our world.
Oh and also 1st or 3rd person depending on what the player prefers. Col sorted the 3rd person camera last week and it works pretty solid even in tight enclosed areas.
Wow thanks for all the great words guys, deff helps keep the inspiration high. Gen, it is progressing very quickly now due to the majority of the assets for the world all done. Col was putting together the UI and menus today and ran some ai tests the other day. Will post more stuff on here at some point in the near future but out main plan is to get together a fully working and playable level over the next few months. All using our own assets, menus and custom rigs and animations. As a smuggler there are some hefty ships involved and have 2 already setup and ready with cannons cabins and everything a ship should have. One is based on the HMS Victory and the other is based on the Bounty. We also have a horse fully setup which will be in our 1st proper build.
Some more pics although these are from some time ago on my folio.
Thanks again for the kind words everyone, much appreciated.
