This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Spacecraft

I needed a break from the scene of a Victorian office, so I started to model this little one seat space ship.

If I animate it is there a way to make it fly along a curve I’ve drawn?

Thanks, I’ll try and get a test animation done today. I want to make two different spacecraft and have them fighting each other so I can try and create decent explosion when one gets hit. Here's a small update on the model.

I don't think i like the enemy ship so i'm going to model a new one tomorrow but here is a test animation of the first ship (the one i do like) firing one of it's weapons.

I've come up with a design I like for the alien ship but don't know how i should model it. It's going to an asteroid powered by a big solar sail. But I don't know how to model the asteroid. Help Please. Tutorial on modelling asteroids would be great.

I'd try a sphere, stretch it out and apply a displacement map to it.
not sure if that's the right name, but I mean like applying a black/white texture that makes the model change shape.

I used this in Max to make mountains out of a cube and I'm pretty sure I did a tutorial on it from the instant maya ones.

I'll probably wait until I’ve got all the modelling and animation done before I start putting textures on as it means I can render test animations a lot quicker. I'm only running a 1.1Ghz so it takes me quite a while to render.

Started the runway for the space craft. The hanger is on the floor below and the space ship will come up on a lift in the ground.
