Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

Projection Orientation

I have modeled a basic fuel truck/18-wheeler and I am trying to put a logo on the side. I have tried to do it as a lambert projection but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it orientened correctly on the side of that stinkin cylinder!! It seems to be trying to put it on the flat back of the cylinder instead of on the side. user added image Speak slowly and use small words, haha! Thanks!

Oh i also have photoshop available to me if that helps at all.

when you connected the file file texture node to the color attribute make sure you checked that projection was on.

afterwards in the attribute editor go to the projection tab for the file and control your projection. Should fix your problem

emm cylindrical wrap it and then planar map the ends.... then export the UV map to PS and paint away. Then assign the tif or tga to the shader and then you're done.... should be simple enough user added image
