In our new short tutorial, we answer a question that often gets asked – how to cut round holes in Maya. The method we use works for cutting any type of hole in geometry. Maya’s modeling tools chamfer vertex and circularize vertex get us off to a quick start, and we also look at how to speed things up by mirroring geometry when working on a model with symmetry. Finally, we discuss why and how to avoid ngons in Maya and build geometry that smooths well with edge loops in all the right places.
