Wate disturbance from low flying ship!

Hello People
Hoping to tap into more experienced peoples brains for some advice here. Working on a shot with a space ship flying about 500MPH 10 feet over a river. Im trying to figure out the best method to create the disturbance/wake on the water created by the fast moving ship. Something like this - https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...5031efd59c.jpg

I have had a go with a fluid, particle emitter and got a similar effect but im wondering would there be a better result with maya ocean or biofrost. Wondering if you can use a force field traveling over the water to create the reaction instead of a particle system.

heres what i got with a 3d fluid and particle emitter

ive gone and changed the animation for more action - ships are banking left and right so now i need a disturbance on the water at the end of each bank - heres where i am at present
