Low Poly InGame Character

Hey everyone, This is my latest piece of work. I have to do an ingame character for a game. This is the first time that I am attempting a low poly model.

I was told to get something similiar to Final Fantasy 7 style. I would like to know what kind of poly count I should aim for? At the moment the count is at 854. Thanx. user added image Here are the pics.....user added image

Looks good bud.. One suggestion you can get rid of the 2 edge lines that are beside the middle edge straight down the middle. You should be fine with out them.

Also the model is in quad so you actual poly count will be double.

I would try and stay around 1500 to 2000 poly count.

if it's for a game then you want to keep the triangle count as low as possible... i usually aim for 4 to 5000 triangles.

In game characters for FF7 were all very short, almost like gag characters, unless you just mean hair and clothing styles.

EDIT - Model looks good.

the characters in Final Fantasy 7 were pretty low-poly by today's standards.

If you go by their "not in combat walking around" characters, they would look to be below 500 tris.

While their "in combat" characters seem to be a bit higher, maybe closer to 800-1000.

Of course, if you're talking more "style" as in, visual style, as opposed to the actual technical limitations, never mind. user added image

Hey MX

Nice to see you pop in again. Nice model. I think around the 4000 mark should do it, nicely.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, much appreciated. user added image Here is another small update, with his head completed. It's almost done, I just need to do some fine adjustments and tweaking, and then the "fun" part begins....texturing....user added image
