the last post having easily recognizeable models, i'd have to say they look really good! any texturing plans in the works?

I attend a school in Ohio called Shawnee State University... its on the Ohio river... but yes I do plan on texturing these models eventually when I find the time.

nick, I never got to see your Warthog, looks good man. You got me started working on a Mech now, I started with the guns and now i'm starting with the body. I may need your help with a few things. I'll talk to you in class about it on Monday.

cool, master chief is one of my fav game character.
i like your dragon/demon aswell.

lol yea the master chief and the demon head were for fun and simply my own modeling excersizes to try and profect some modeling issues I had.... I think i had to much fun with them but I did learn alot does anyone have any crits on them? Oh and yes i do plan on eventually modeling the rest of the demon head and maybe have some Zbrush fun with him whenever I can get my hands on a copy of it.

you should use ambient occlusion;
go to the layer section, select render (layers), select your mech and click; create layer from selected.
maya creates a layer, rmb-click on the layer and goto presets==>occlusion.
this will turn everything black in your viewport but when you render it looks very nice.

I was thinking about reworking some of my Mech to make the inner working of it show through... like the pistons and stuff like that pumping ... going back over it and just adding insane detail what do you all think is it a good idea or not?

Considering that you're a starter, your models are really good. You should think about some rendering improvements to show your models in a better way. If you have questions about some little rendering tips, feel free to send me a PM.

thanks and yes im learning how to render my models in different ways right now... but Im really working now on texturing... lol its a pain but its interesting.

I cant get that to work... I have been messing with it but everytime i go to render it jsut says aborted... i can get to the part where it turns everything black.. have any idea why it might always abort?
