Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

polygons to subdiv

hi everyone, im just haiving a big problem that might be small to fix.

Im trying to convert my polygon torus to a polygon to subdiv but everytime i do so it still has sharp edges and not curved.

Im currently using Maya 8.5 could someone please help me. thanks

It looks like it has converted and is showing its lowest setting. Press 3 on the keyborad and that will smooth it out.

now im haing problems converting subdiv to polygons, everytime i try doing this it comes up with //Error: Select a subdivision surface which you want to tessellate. i select it and it wont work

Chk to ensure its a Sub_D Object your coverting and make sure you are not doing it in poly mode. right click and choose standard, then convert.
