Ahh, the joys of dense meshes. The yellow treething in the middle looks a bit jagged (the only lowpoly thing in the scene?). Looking great otherwise, too bad the watermark is so disturbing. :\

I think it's a bit messy, too. If I can think of some "scientific gadgets" to put in I'll cut back on the other madness. And the reason why it's such a dense mesh it's because I have no idea how to keep to keep mesh level down, still an inexperienced noobie, you see.... Although Maya dropped it's price significantly, it's still a lot for a starving student like me. Please bear with the watermark and hopefully I'll find work soon to pay for real Maya.user added image

HappyLemon : If you are using polysmooth then you could knock down the iterations when you're in your viewport views. Then put it back up when you render. That would make things much easier for you to work with user added image

New updates. I added some gadgets on the lower left corner, and I am wondering if it's still too messy? I couldn't quite tell myself because I looked at it too many times.

I also wanted to try to put some kind of texture on my flower. I tried to play with fractal and noise but they don't look good. Any idea what flower texture should be? Would photograph petals help?

If you wanted it to look like petals, you could try using a colour ramp. Might be interesting to try anyway. I think it looks good as it is. Texturing it with something heavy might take away from its appearance, and at the moment it seems to be the focal point. Nice work.

the big flower thing that is. user added image

HI! That is some crazy looking lab you have there!!! user added image Pity about the crazy AW logos messing up the images - is there any way to remove them? Very nice. I think Raull is right. Your work looks like a winner!

I'll try the ramp thing and see if it works, thanks!

I am pretty surprised that I can make this scene look not half bad. I am encouraged now, I think I'll have to spend that three thousand dollars Canadian to get real Maya soon....

I am learning Maya on my own with books, and it's a lot of struggle. Can I ask how did you guys learn Maya? Schools? Mentors? Self-taught?

Agghhh Evil Plants!

I haven't seen updates on your challenge recently...and now i say..

WoW! How the hell did you do that!

It reminds me of one of those Hieronemous Bosch paintings that mess with your head even after you have stopped looking..

Really Nice Scraggy.... user added image
